Materials

Greensafe

At GIK Acoustics, sustainability and clean materials are core values. Greensafe reflects our commitment to high-performing, responsibly sourced, ormaldehyde-free materials—fabrics, rockwools, rigid fiberglass, and plywoods. These are widely used in construction worldwide and safe for human use in finished products, allowing us to deliver top acoustic performance and safety while reducing environmental impact.

Camira Cara Fabrics

GIK is excited to use the Camira Cara fabric line standard in all our products. The Camira fabric will look familiar to fans of Guilford of Maine fabrics, similar to their FR701 line but with different color options. With a richer aesthetic and tactile feel and wider range of available colors compared to our previous standard offerings, Camira Cara allows every product to look as good as it performs.

Care Instructions

Camira Cara Fabric

Acoustic Transparency

Camira Cara fabric is engineered to be highly breathable, ensuring airflow and sound waves pass cleanly through the fabric to the absorber behind it while offering a small amount of additional sound absorption. This makes it ideal for use on broadband absorbers, bass traps, and diffuser/absorber hybrid sound panels where performance matters, as well as for covering larger architectural acoustic wall assemblies.

Durability & Easy Care

Cara is made from 100% polypropylene, a fibre chosen for strength, resilience, and ease of maintenance. As one of the best acoustic fabric options available, it’s resistant to wear, fading, and stretching, ensuring your sound-absorbing panels and projects stay looking sharp for years.

Design Flexibility

With an extensive palette of rich colours, Cara offers design flexibility that suits studios, offices, home theatres, and public spaces. Its visual appeal is comparable to Guilford of Maine fabrics, making it a perfect alternative for those who want a premium look at a more accessible price.

FAQ

How does Camira Cara compare to Guilford of Maine FR701?

Cara is very similar in weave, look, and acoustic performance. The main differences are the specific colour palette and that Cara is offered at a lower cost through GIK. If you’ve been looking for the best fabric type for your acoustic projects, this is it! You can achieve your soundproofing goals, reduce reverberation, or deliver high-performance noise reduction in recording studios and other environments that require advanced sound control.

Is Camira Cara fabric acoustically transparent?

Yes. Cara is designed to allow airflow to pass freely while adding a bit of extra absorption. It's an excellent choice for acoustic panels and bass traps. We don't recommend it for use in custom speaker grilles; the extra absorption it adds can muffle the tweeter. It’s suitable for acoustic wall panels, partitions, ceiling panels, or covering large-scale architectural acoustics installations.

Can I use Camira Cara fabric for non-acoustic projects?

Absolutely. Its durability and aesthetic appeal make it suitable for office panels, upholstery, acoustic curtains, and other decorative wall applications.

How wide is the fabric and how is it sold?

Cara fabric is 170cm wide and is sold by the linear meter, making it easy to order the right amount for your project.
