Performance You Can Trust

Every GIK product is tested at the world-renowned University of Salford, following BS EN ISO 354:2003 standards. This scientific approach not only ensures complete transparency in how our products perform, but also drives our R&D process. So every panel, bass trap, or diffuser we release is engineered to deliver results you can trust.

Materials
Camira Cara Fabrics

GIK is excited to use the Camira Cara fabric line standard in all our products. The Camira fabric will look familiar to fans of Guilford of Maine fabrics, similar to their FR701 line but with different color options. With a richer aesthetic and tactile feel and wider range of available colors compared to our previous standard offerings, Camira Cara allows every product to look as good as it performs.

Sustainability

GIK Acoustics has long prioritized sustainability as a guiding principle. We carefully select materials that balance acoustic performance with environmental responsibility, sourcing from suppliers who share our commitment to reducing waste and carbon impact. Our products use durable, recyclable components that minimize landfill waste while maintaining the highest acoustic standards.

Health & Safety

Health and safety are built into every GIK product. All materials—including fabrics, cores, and wood elements—are formaldehyde-free, low-VOC, and independently tested for indoor air quality. This ensures our treatments are safe for studios, homes, schools, and offices alike. We believe superior acoustics should never come at the expense of well-being, which is why our products are made with clean, non-toxic materials that protect both the people who use them and the spaces where they’re installed.

Care Instructions
Camira Cara Fabric

Vacuum regularly. Wipe with a damp cloth using soap and water or use proprietary upholstery shampoo. For deeper cleaning use bleach or alcohol.

Veneer Finishes

Clean with a soft cloth or soft brush, lightly dampened with kukewarm PH-neutral, soapy water. Do not use solvents or chemical cleaners, but cleaning can be done with alcohol-based cleaners. Finally, wipe with a damp cloth afterward.

Superior Performance Over Smaller Screens or Filters

Many portable acoustic screens or filters on the market rely on acoustic foam, which only absorbs treble frequencies while leaving lower-frequency reflections untreated. The PIB V2 is built with 5cm thick high quality absorbent material, offering broadband sound absorption across the full range of most human voices, eliminating unwanted reflections and reverb and ensuring a clear, natural sound.

The PIB is much larger than a mic-stand mounted reflection filter or shield, which provide limited square footage of absorption around the microphone. The PIB V2 creates a much larger vocal isolation booth, allowing you to surround the performer with multiple PIBs as needed to minimize ambient noise and sound reflections and create a recording area as large as you need. This results in high-quality recordings that can rival those made in fully treated recording studios. Getting the room sound under control is often the secrete weapon in getting a good vocal sound.

Why Choose the PIB V2?

The PIB V2 builds on the success of its predecessor with a patent-pending recessed plate design, a robust frame, and an upgraded piano hinge and clasp hardware for added durability.

Whether you’re a voice actor or doing voiceover, recording audiobooks, or recording vocal or acoustic instrument tracks for music production, the PIB V2 delivers unparalleled sound isolation and control over how much room tone gets into the recording, with a portable, freestanding acoustic booth.

PIBs are designed to collapse for easy storage and transport, making them the ideal portable vocal booth for remote recordings. Now available in a variety of colors and finishes to match any home recording studio or professional setup.

Daisy-chain multiple units

If you’re just starting out or working in a compact setup, one PIB is more than enough to make an easily noticeable improvement. Embrace the mindset of experimenting and listening to create different sounds. Adding a second or third PIB creates a more enclosed environment, expanding the absorption area and providing even better control. With multiple PIBs, you can more fully surround the performer in a semi-enclosed space. The real power of PIBs lies in their modular, portable design. If you’re recording larger instruments like upright bass, drums, or even string sections, you can continue adding PIBs to build a customized recording space. Arrange them in a circle for ensemble work or line them up as portable gobos between musicians to control bleed and reflections during live tracking. Because the PIB is freestanding and collapsible, it’s easy to move, reposition, or store when not in use.

FAQ

What is the PIB used for?

The Portable Isolation Booth creates a controlled environment for vocals and instruments by reducing room reflections and echo. It’s ideal for achieving a clean, focused recording even in untreated spaces.

How portable is the PIB?

The PIB opens up into a freestanding booth and collapses flat for transport or storage. It’s lightweight enough to move easily between rooms or take to different recording locations.

Does the PIB absorb bass as well as treble?

Unlike foam reflection filters, the PIB is built with the same high-performance absorption core as our panels. That means it provides broadband absorption, taming not just treble but also midrange and some upper bass frequencies for more natural recordings.

Can the PIB be used for instruments as well as vocals?

Yes. It works equally well for acoustic guitar, strings, brass, and other instruments. For acoustic instruments, try reversing it and recording plate-side inward to see what adding diffusion sounds like in your recordings!
