Camira Cara Fabrics

GIK is excited to use the Camira Cara fabric line standard in all our products. The Camira fabric will look familiar to fans of Guilford of Maine fabrics, similar to their FR701 line but with different color options. With a richer aesthetic and tactile feel and wider range of available colors compared to our previous standard offerings, Camira Cara allows every product to look as good as it performs.

Care Instructions

Camira Cara Fabric

Vacuum regularly. Wipe with a damp cloth using soap and water or use proprietary upholstery shampoo. For deeper cleaning use bleach or alcohol.

Veneer Finishes

Clean with a soft cloth or soft brush, lightly dampened with lukewarm PH-neutral, soapy water. Do not use solvents or chemical cleaners, but cleaning can be done with alcohol-based cleaners. Finally, wipe with a damp cloth afterward.

Many portable recording booths, acoustic screens, or reflection filters on the market rely on acoustic foam, which absorbs only treble frequencies while leaving lower-frequency reflections untreated. The PIB is built with high-quality absorbent material, offering broadband sound absorption across the full range of most human voices, eliminating unwanted reflections and reverb, and ensuring clear, natural sound quality. 

The PIB is much larger than a mic-stand-mounted shield, which provides only limited absorption around the microphone. The PIB Portable Vocal Screen creates a much larger vocal isolation booth, allowing you to surround the performer with multiple PIBs as needed to minimize ambient noise and reflections, and to make a recording area as large as you need. The design delivers high-quality recordings with professional sound that rivals fully treated recording studios. Getting the room sound under control is often the secret weapon for achieving good studio-quality vocal sound.

What is the PIB used for?

The Portable Isolation Booth creates a controlled environment for vocals and instruments by reducing room reflections and echo. It’s ideal for achieving a clean, focused recording even in untreated spaces, without treating the entire room with GIK or DIY sound-absorbing acoustic panels.

How portable is the PIB?

The PIB opens up into a freestanding booth and collapses flat for transport or storage. It’s lightweight enough to move easily between rooms or take to different recording locations. Bring the PIB, along with your favorite mic and interface, and maybe a pop filter, for a professional vocal booth to go.

Does the PIB absorb bass as well as treble?

Unlike foam reflection filters, we build the PIB with the same high-performance absorption core as our panels. That means it provides broadband absorption, taming not just treble but also midrange and some upper-bass frequencies for more natural recordings within the sound-isolation booth.

Can the PIB be used for instruments as well as vocals?

Yes. It works equally well for acoustic guitar, strings, brass, and other instruments. For acoustic instruments, try reversing it and recording plate-side inward to see what adding diffusion sounds like in your recordings!
